Fall 2015 Online/Hybrid EMR Course

At EMMCO-West

IUP Emergency Services Training announces an Online/Hybrid EMR course in cooperation with EMMCOWest.

This program is primarily designed for future EMS personnel, but is appropriate for anyone who

may respond to emergencies including fire/rescue personnel, nurses, coaches or athletic trainers, safety

professionals, etc. Participants who successfully complete this program are eligible to take National

Registry of EMTs EMR certification exams for PA and national certification.

FIRST SESSION: Tues. 8/18 6-9PM COURSE DATES: 8/24 – 12/6/2015

LAB SESSIONS: Sat/Sun 9-5 on: 9/26-27; 10/24; 12/6 (All sessions mandatory)

LOCATION: EMMCO-West office: 16271 Conneaut Lake Rd. Meadville, PA 16335

COST: $350 (textbook, pocket mask, online access code included)

This hybrid EMR course is designed for students who are self-motivated, academically disciplined and

technologically proficient with standard computer applications. Students will complete required course

lessons online each week and attend skill labs on scheduled days. There are academic and attendance

requirements in this course. See reverse for technical requirements, list of co-requisites and NREMT

exam fee not included in the course cost. Students must be at least 16 years of age to enroll.

PREREGISTRATION is required. To enroll please complete the form below and return it with a $200.00

nonrefundable deposit (check or MO payable to “IUP”) by 5/15/15. The remaining fee ($200 payable to

IUP) will be due at the first class session. Enrollment is limited and will be accepted until the class is filled.

*IUP reserves the right to cancel any program for any reason including insufficient enrollment, at which

time all deposit/registration fees would be refunded.

Online/Hybrid EMR Course

Technical Requirements:

Students will need regular access to a reliable computer with:

• Current operating system

• Robust internet connection

• Current Flash player

• Active email account

Students need to be able to create user accounts, navigate a web-based learning platform, send and

receive emails, attach files, and open attachments using common computer applications. Students

without good

academic or computer skills should consider a traditional classroom format instead.

Co-requisites:

*In addition to online and lab sessions students must complete these co-requisite courses to be

eligible for certification:

• IS 100.b (available free online)

• IS 700.a (available free online)

• Hazardous Materials Awareness course

NREMT Exam: NREMT exam fees ($65 for EMR) are not included in the course fee, but vouchers may

be available from EMMCO-West for students who are affiliated with a regional EMS agency – see

www.emmco.org

Criminal History:

Students must complete a criminal history form for PA DOH upon enrollment in the course. Students

with a positive criminal history may not be eligible for EMR certification. For more information please
